1. Research

Before designing my lamp, I first needed direction, an inspiration on which I could design my lamp.

I started by compiling images for inspiration by using Pinterest. These images gave me inspiration and a general direction on which to design my lamp on. By looking further at the websites that sell the lamps that I had been analyzing, I also had a look at the reviews, taking it into account for my target customer for designing my lamp

Lamp designs like the one above helped me think of ways to start creating my own designs, inspired by the ones I saw already being sold.

I really liked how some of the existing models seemed very warm in nature, very welcoming and homely and I decided that was the direction I wanted to go in for my own design.

Some of the other designs, however had interesting structures to them which I quite liked the aesthetics of, taking that into consideration when designing my own lamp concepts

Overall researching helped me decide on a direction to start making concept designs and through looking at the linked shops through Pinterest, I could also evaluate what my target customer would be.
